Thanksgiving
We are not in America, and so Thanksgiving is not a holiday here.
That didn't stop the American missionaries plus a few local friends from celebrating around all the fixings, although one day later than friends and family back home. To make sure things felt like home, we ate many of the same foods and even the sweet potatoes were color-dyed so that they appeared their familiar color.
We began with a couple of songs, For the Beauty of Earth and then Give Thanks, this second one in English and then Spanish. My favorite renditions of these songs can be found here and here.
We were then reminded of the importance of prayer that contains thanksgiving, and not just petitions (Colossians 4:2).
And then we ate - and felt satisfied.
n.b. the turkey, indian and pilgrim decorations were made from toilet rolls and by our boys along with some neighborhood kids.
